Background on Phill Christian
Phill Christian has been playing and performing for over 30
years as a percussionist. Classically trained, he's traveled most of North America
performing with groups covering many styles of music from classical to jazz. He
studied in San Diego with Myron Collins, the well known rudimental drum studies
author. Phill had recorded five concert albums before graduating High School.
In Los Angeles he studied with Gruber and later with Dick Wilson. While in Los
Angeles Phill worked in numerous groups and recorded a lot of jingles, studying
at Dick Groves School of Music in his spare time. Phill currently resides in
Phoenix where you will find him in the studio and playing around town.
Phill has been busy the last 10 years recording CDs as an
independent percussionist and drummer with Darren Motamedy ("Relax Your
Mind", “Intimate”, “Best of Darren”), Barbie Anaka ("In Love With a
Memory"), Tim MacDonald ("New Man"), and Bola (released in
Africa only). Additionally, in addition to recordings with. Phill is featured
on several new projects with killer artists including James Caddell, Selah,
Darren Motamedy, and producer/keyboardist Robert Damper (Kenny G), Key man Al
Addleman, Gabe, and an acoustic compilation of Tucson artists for Infinite
Records.
Phill is an Artist/Endorser for Audix USA and their line of
professional microphones, Del Cielo Percussion who truly do make the
"Worlds Finest Congas", Rhythmtech percussion accessories, and
fabulous custom Bodhrans made by Brenden White in The Netherlands.
